Design in motion Swiss watchmaker Rado launches first ever Rado Star Prize Taiwan
Design-driven Swiss watchmaker Rado is taking its Rado Star Prize competition to Taiwan. This edition of the Rado Star Prize – an established platform that promotes the work of young designers in several international competitions every year – will take place during the World Design Capital® (WDC) 2016 programme in Taipei.
Echoing the World Design Capital Taipei 2016 motto “Adaptive City – Design in Motion”, the Taiwanese edition of the Rado Star Prize will likewise focus on exploring the concept of “Design in Motion” – in other words, beautiful, dynamic objects that move seamlessly between functions. By freeing up space and reducing clutter, multifunctional objects have the potential to unlock a lighter, more sustainable way of living – a theme embodied by Rado’s latest lightweight and minimalist watch collections.
The WDC 2016 International Design Gala in Taipei marks the call for entries for the
competition, which begins officially on the Rado Star Prize Taiwan website (www.rado.com/radostarprize-taiwan) on March 18, 2016. The closing date for entries is August 22, 2016.
Ten finalists and one winner of the Rado Star Prize Taiwan 2016 will be selected by a jury of local and international design professionals. The winner will receive 200,000 TWD in prize money as well as a Rado watch. All finalists will have the opportunity to display their concepts during the World Design Capital International Design House Exhibition in Taipei from October 13-30, 2016 at the Rado booth space. An additional Designer’s Choice winner, selected by the finalists themselves, will receive a Rado watch.
